The importance of Caona

Caona stands for strength and femininity and draws inspiration from cultures around the world. Our name is influenced by Anacaona, a respected Taíno queen whose name means 'golden flower'. We chose a golden flower as our logo to honor this connection. Also, 'Caona' is reminiscent of the word 'woman' in two different languages: 'kona' in Icelandic and 'on'na' in Japanese. In essence, Caona stands for empowerment, understanding and a shared strength among women worldwide.

The silent struggles of women

Menstrual pain, PMS and menopausal symptoms not only have a significant impact on women's well-being, but also on the economy. Globally, these problems contribute to significant productivity losses, healthcare costs and a reduced quality of life for millions of women1.

90% of women experience at least one symptom of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), such as mood swings, headaches, tiredness or depression.

80%

Menstrual pain

85%

Menopausal symptoms

Menopausal symptoms, such as hot flushes and mood swings, affect around 85% of women and lead to reduced work engagement and increased healthcare costs3."

"My own story of suffering has shown me how much knowledge is missing - with Caona, I give women what I would have wished for myself in these moments: education, community, solutions."

Female Expertise - Yes Please!

Hi, I'm Bea, CEO and founder of Caona. My dream has always been to start a company that is passionate about using AI and data to make our lives better. I have two degrees in mechanical engineering and medical informatics. During my studies, I learned how to develop medical devices and program apps. After that, I was a developer at Microsoft and CTO of a data analytics startup.

A personal matter!

My personal experience with endometriosis was a turning point that led me to give up my tech career and use my skills to help women address hormonal imbalances. Since 2020, I have been bringing the topic to Europe's stages as a keynote speaker, leading workshops and currently writing my dissertation at the TUM School of Medicine and Health, where I am developing an AI system for continuous hormone monitoring using apps and wearables.

Marketing, CMO of Caona

"Women's health must become a natural part of our everyday lives. It starts with understanding our bodies better - because only then can we make informed decisions about our health. Talking about it openly and strengthening the social discourse are the next important steps towards change."

A heart for female health

Hi, I'm Veronika, CMO of Caona. With over ten years of marketing experience, I know how to build brands that last. I moved from a global corporation to the start-up world. My heart beats for female health. Among other things, I also host the Femtech podcast 'In Her Code'.

My motivation: to create solutions with real added value, intelligently combine data and communication and use them to create love brands and strong communities.

Let's get loud

Women's health must become a natural part of our everyday lives. It starts with understanding our bodies better - because only then can we make informed decisions about our health. Talking about it openly and strengthening the social discourse are the next important steps towards change.

Elisa

Cognitive Science

"I'm fascinated by the idea that the menstrual cycle could also influence our thinking and our performance. That's why I want to research whether and how hormonal fluctuations shape our everyday lives - and how we can deal with them better."

Merve

Marketing

"Our body talks to us every day - about nutrition, exercise and environmental influences. For women in particular, there is so much untapped knowledge in this. I want to help us learn to listen carefully again."

Davit

Design

"Good design solves problems - that's what drives me. In the area of female health, I want to help ensure that information is clearly structured, topics are communicated respectfully and digital spaces are created in which users really feel understood."

Maren

Product Management

"I always find it shocking how backward research and (product) development in the field of women's health still is. This makes it all the more important for me to play an active role in shaping this area."
